Chris Andersen is declining his player-option for $1.45 million next season, making him an unrestricted free agent according to Yahoo Sports:
“Forward-center Chris Andersen will opt-out of his contract to become a free agent, a source said.”
This doesn’t necessarily mean Birdman’s days are numbered in Miami. It gives them further financial flexibility as the Heat likely look to formulate a plan to rebuild their supporting cast.
Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James also have an ability to opt out of their contracts.
