LeBron James has transplanted his talent back to Cleveland, leaving No. 6 wide open in Miami and our own Marc Hochman has an idea for who should take that number next season.
“If Udonis Haslem wears number six it’s an unmistakable message that number six belongs not just to a player, but to our city,” Hoch says. “Miami needs to reclaim number six.”
“In fact, the back of his jersey should say ‘Miami’ instead of Haslem.”
Haslem was born in Miami and attended Miami High. After graduating from the University of Florida, he’s been a Heat staple ever since, taking less money to remain with the only NBA franchise he’s ever known. If someone is going to overwrite the King in Miami it should be Haslem. When Hochman is done pushing for the number change, he wants to shift things over to his name.
“I’m starting a new movement to have Udonis Haslem legally change his name to Udonis Miami.”
